An account of the resource
This is a photograph developed from a glass negative of a grain elevator next to railroad tracks. The lettering says, "C.H. & D.R.R." which was the Cincinnati, Hamilton and Dayton Railroad which was a company operating out of Ohio. The location was Byron Michigan but the date of this photograph is unknown.<br /><br />On May 1, 1863, the CH&DRR leased the Dayton and Michigan Railroad in perpetuity. In 1891, it acquired the Cincinnati, Dayton and Chicago Railroad, while in March of that year it added the Cincinnati, Dayton and Ironton Railroad.

Wrigley Supermarket, opened in August 1963 at 505 E. Grand River Avenue, on the southeast corner of Grand River Avenue & Fowler Streets, in Howell, Michigan. The grocery store held a Grand Opening and Howell City Mayor Clifton W. Heller snipped a ceremonial ribbon.<br /><br />The Wrigley Supermarket was a 10,000 square foot newly constructed building with a 75 car parking lot. The grocery store featured modern equipment, and mechanical handling, storing, and selling of a great variety of food products.<br /><br />The photographs are from the Open House.<br /><br />The local manager of the Wrigley Supermarket was George Courtright.

This is an image of Grand River Avenue, with the Eastern House, originally the Brighton House, on the right. The owners, the Sturhbergs, changed the name when the Western House was built. The Eastern House in Brighton, Michigan was a stage stop between Lansing and Detroit. It was built in 1846; it burned down in January 1926

This is a photograph of Grand River Avenue, Howell, Michigan after 1914, when the street was paved and the Presbyterian Church (in the distance, left) was built. The view is just east of the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Michigan Avenue (Division) and is looking west. The early traffic signal is in the center of the intersecion and old cars are angle parked. The exact date is unknown.
