Gordan Jr. There were present M.J. McPherson,&lt;br /&gt;Wm. P. VanWinkle, L.S. Brooke, Thos Gordon Jr. &amp;amp; F.O. Bush. J.J. Cooper absent.&lt;br /&gt;Moved by Bush, seconded by VanWinkle that Mr. McPherson &amp;amp; Mr. Brooks be requested to write Mr. Carnegie the condition of the building and see if he would &lt;br /&gt;increase this Gift for the finishing of the building. Carried&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Moved by Mr. VanWinkle seconded by Mr. McPherson that the secy make a copy of the Township Board proceeding in regard to the abandonment &lt;br /&gt;of the Carnegie Library Building. Carried.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On motion of Mr. Brooks, seconded by Mr. VanWinkle that Mr. Chattenden of Lansing be invited to come &amp;amp; inspect Library Building &amp;amp; make a report on condition &amp;amp; also estimate the amount required to complete the sum.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;July 22, 1904&lt;br /&gt;At a meeting of Howell Township Board of Library Directors held at the office of Thomas Gordan Jr. All of the members being present.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Moved by Mr. Gordon, sec. by Mr. Cooper, that we proceed to vote by ballot on the use of the Township funds for Building purpose.&lt;br /&gt;Result of ballot&lt;br /&gt;whole number of votes cast 6&lt;br /&gt;of which number 4 voted yes&lt;br /&gt;of which 1 voted no&lt;br /&gt;of which 1 was blank&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On Motion of Mr. Brooke, sec by Mr. VanWinkle, meeting adjourned. &lt;br /&gt;F.O. Bush, secy&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sept 7 1904&lt;br /&gt;A meeting of the Howell Township Library Board of Directors was held at the office of Thos. Gordon Jr Sept 7 1904. All of members&lt;br /&gt;were present.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Moved by McPherson, seconded by Mr. Bush the? we accept the offer of F.P. Schoeder &amp;amp; he W.J.Burton for roofing the Library Building at&lt;br /&gt;prices named by them. The roofing to $ 5.85? per square delivered in Howell the work of Mr. Schroeder for putting on ?san &amp;amp; the gutters to br&lt;br /&gt;?$348.98. Carried&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Moved by VanWinkle, Sup by Mr. McPherson that drainage of a permanent charc?lar for the Library Building be put in &amp;amp; that grading be&lt;br /&gt;done for the protection of the Building.&lt;br /&gt;Moved &amp;amp; sup. that Pres. &amp;amp; Secy act as a committee to let contract for sum. On motion the board&lt;br /&gt;decided to advertise for bids in two local &amp;amp; two Detroit papers as follows.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;BIDS FOR COMPLETION OF CARNEGIE LIBRARY HOWELL, MICHIGAN&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bids will be received up to12 o'clock noon, May 18, 1905 and will be opened at 2 o'clock p.m., the same day at the office of Thos. Gordon, Jr.&lt;br /&gt;Howell, Mich., for completion of the Carnegie Library, Howell, Mich.&lt;br /&gt;Estimates will be received embracing all work and furnishing complete, as per drawings and specifications. Separate estimates will also be&lt;br /&gt;considered for the following items:&lt;br /&gt;1st Mason, concrete, cut stone, file, marble and iron work&lt;br /&gt;2nd Carpenter and joiner work and hardware&lt;br /&gt;3rd Painting, varnishing, etc., and glazing.&lt;br /&gt;4th Plastering and stucco work&lt;br /&gt;5th Electric work.&lt;br /&gt;6th Plumbing and heating.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also for raising the present dome, and for new entrance complete as per disign No., 2.&lt;br /&gt;Plans and specifications are on file for examination at the office of Thos. After some discussion, the Board of Township Library Directors entered&lt;br /&gt;into an agreement with C.A. Sauer &amp;amp; Co. of Ann Arbor in the sum of $8159.53 for the completion of Carnegie Library in accordance with plans &amp;amp; specifications &lt;br /&gt;as favored by Malco? &amp;amp; Higgenbottem? &amp;amp; as were particularly set forth in contract to be drawn by architect.
